Biography

Bill Flynn was born in Cape Town in 1948 and had a passion for show business from an early age. He was also an excellent sportsman and played first team rugby while studying drama at the University of Cape Town. As a founder member of the historic Space Theatre he worked with the legendary Yvonne Bryceland in Athol Fugard's 'Hello and Goodbye'. It was for the role of Johnnie that he received his first Best Actor award in South Africa, as well as the Dublin Best Actors Award. Bill was extremely versatile with roles in over 150 stage plays. He tackled tragedy, farce, dramas, pantomime and musicals earning 13 Best Actor Awards along the way. More than anything he loved to try and make his fellow actors laugh on stage. His comedy talents were used in over 42 movies, including 'Oh Shucks, Here Comes UNTAG'.
