Biography

Terry Bishop (21 October 1912 – 30 October 1981) was a British screenwriter, and television and film director. In the 1940s Bishop directed a series of public information and documentary films, including Daybreak in Udi (1949) for the Crown Film Unit which in 1950 won the Oscar for Best Documentary and a BAFTA for Best Documentary Film. From 1950–1962 he worked extensively in British TV, directing episodes of series including The Adventures of William Tell, The Adventures of Robin Hood, Sword of Freedom, Danger Man, and Sir Francis Drake. Bishop also made several low budget British films during this period, including Cover Girl Killer (1959), featuring future Steptoe and Son star Harry H. Corbett as a serial murderer of glamour models.
