A horror film series focusing on a tribe of feral cannibals living in the forests and caves surrounding the small coastal town of Dead River, Maine. Based on characters created by Jack Ketchum in his novels "Off Season" (1980), "Offspring" (1991) and "The Woman" (2010, co-authored with Lucky McKee, director of the film version), and his short story "Winter Child" (1998).
The local sheriff of Dead River, Maine, thought he had killed them off ten years ago -- a primitive, cave-dwelling tribe of cannibalistic savages. But somehow the clan survived. To breed. To hunt. To kill and eat. And now the peaceful residents of this isolated town are fighting for their lives...

Has some interesting things to say, and some fresh ideas to try out, but ultimately is an underwhelming gore-fest that's poorly acted and poorly filmed. _Final rating:★★ - Had some things that appeal to me, but a poor finished product._
